A Week In Pictures: September 23rd
We have been really busy in room 17 this week. We have learned about how reader's can walk across the page when they tell what is happening in the story. The most EXCITING thing that happened this week was that we filled our WOW jar and earned a special treat. Your Kindergartners are really fantastic and meet new learning with enthusiasm.
WOW jar filled!
DATA Collection: In math we are beginning to look at data and figure out what we can learn from it. We saw that the month of October has the most birthdays. We have also noticed that we had cloudy days more often than any other.
In social studies, we are learning about rules and why we have them. As a class, we wrote rules for our classroom and we signed them. Most importantly, we are learning that hands are for helping each other out.
In the hallway, your children have learned about our school PBS expectations. They have been working really hard to stay NEXT to the blue tile, hands by their side, and level 0. We had our first assembly to talk about the PBS expectations as a school. If your child comes home with an orange Tiger Ticket, that means that they were caught by a teacher at school following the expectations in the hallway.
In class, Gabriel modeled for us what it is like to show that you are ready for learning.
Each morning, they have table top time. There is a math manipulative or morning work at each of their seats. They are working on sharing materials and working together.
Looking forward to the fabulous week ahead.

Kindergarten: A Week in Pictures
Hello Families,
Your Kindergartners have been working so hard in our classroom. They have learned many rules and procedures, but are beginning their journey as readers, writers, and mathematicians! They also LOVE to dance.

They are such a smiley group of kids.
We are learning how to sit knee to knee and eye to eye. It helps us focus on what our partner is trying to tell us. We have been spending time thinking about what we know about and can do. They have been working hard to develop their story telling voice by telling about things they know about!
Coloring can be tricky! We have been using this rubric to check in to see how we are doing!
Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom - A Kindergarten Favorite
Much of our math is done through calendar time. We are learning what comes before and after. We are also learning about the days of the week, today, tomorrow, and yesterday, and we are building a number line.
They have been busy learning how to "read" to self and to someone else. They have been taking their jobs very seriously and are working hard to become readers!
This is quite possibly the most favorite part of kindergarten! The DINOSAUR STOMP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imhi98dHa5w.
