Room 17 Updates

Dear Families,

Because we took a math BA today, we did not have time to film week in review:(  We will have a week in review next week though.  I have many updates that I wanted to share with you about the coming weeks.

GLOBAL SCHOOL OF PLAY DAY-
A letter will be coming home with your child today detailing the Global School of Play Day.  This is going to be a time of unstructured play during the morning half of the day.  The kids know that they can bring in card games, board games, crafts, etc.  The only thing not allowable is electronics.    We talked as a class and the children know that if they bring something in, they have to be willing to share with all of the other children in the class.

TEAM JOSEPH CHARITY VOLLEYBALL GAME-
On Thursday, February 8th, WLE Staff will be playing Hickory Woods in our annual Charity Volleyball Game.  The game will be played at Geisler Middle School at 6:30pm.  The class with the highest percentage of attendance will win a pizza party.  The night of the game, concessions will be sold.  All profits made from the concessions will go to Team Joseph.

The charity that we are raising money for is Team Joseph.  Your child brought home a collection box early this week.  You DO NOT have to return the collection box in order to attend the game.  If you chose to, you can turn in the boxes when you go to the game.  We hope that many of our WLE Families can attend to cheer on the WLE Staff.

VALENTINE'S DAY
Our class voted to walk to Dairy Queen on the last day of school in lieu of a Valentine's Day Party. Your child can still pass out Valentine cards to their classmates if they wish.  We may watch a some of Chronicles of Narnia. Below is a list of students in our class.

Vocabulary Study

Hello Families,

I spoke with many of you at conferences about starting a word study program.  This week we are going to get our feet wet with it.  Every other week, we will begin a new lesson.  At the start of the lesson, I will post the new vocabulary words on the blog.  They will not be TESTED on the words, but we will be doing activities each day with the new words.  If you can find a way to incorporate the vocabulary words into your daily life at home, that would be fabulous.
